Short Biography
HooGenmaKen – Dark Cinematic Soundscapes of Transformation
HooGenmaKen is the solo project of Liliana Carral, an artist from Puebla, Mexico, crafting immersive instrumental music at the progressive edge of rock subgenres, from heavy space / stoner rock riffs, to symphonic strings and gothic dissonance, and cinematic storytelling.
Rooted in introspection and raw emotion, her compositions explore cycles of transformation, loss, and rebirth, weaving angular riffs, haunted textures, and dynamic intensity into a visceral sonic journey — one where silence speaks, and distortion heals.
Her upcoming debut album unfolds like a mythic odyssey, echoing the rhythms of fire festivals, solstices, and the ever-shifting tides of light and darkness. To bring her compositions to life in the studio, she collaborated with Fernando Balbuena (guitar recordings) and Juan Carlos Briones (drums), whose performances add dimension to the project’s ethereal yet relentless sound—where emotion, chaos, and rebirth collide.

"The Shield" is an anthem of resilience—a powerful riff oriented track blending mellow and aggressive sounds. With thunderous guitars, immersive atmospheres, and dynamic rhythmic shifts, the track captures the tension between vulnerability and strength. It’s a visceral, emotionally charged piece that speaks to those drawn to heavy riffs, progressive structures, and music that tells a story without words.
